The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance’s CIP (Certified Insurance Professional) program sets the standard of professionalism for the insurance and financial services industry.
CIPs are insurance professionals who distinguish themselves through an Institute qualification or recognised equivalent, maintain up-to-date technical skills and knowledge through a program of professional development and abide by the ANZIIF Code of Ethics, ensuring best standards of professional practice and integrity.
The Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner (FChFP) is awarded by the Asia Pacific Financial Services Association (APFinSA), and is the highest educational designation, the term ‘Chartered’ being an indication of the high level of professional competency required.
Individuals who hold the FChFP designation have the ability to display the FChFP mark of excellence to affirm to clients and peers their dedication to best practice standards. The FChFP also provides a gateway to an international career as it is recognised by all 11 members of the Asia Pacific Financial Services Association (APFinSA) including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan & Thailand.
In August 2010, Maddern Private Wealth’s team of advisers became the first to qualify as Certified Financial Strategists, the new benchmark for the AIOFP.
The Certified Fi=ncial Strategist (CFS) designation sets out the ideal set of guidelines, standards and environment to receive professional independent advice. A CFS certification gives clients the peace of mind that their advisers are acting in the client’s best interests, with reliable information and advice in a cost effective and conflict free manner. A CFS adviser must:
- Work for an independently owned financial practice – there is no conflicting influence of institutional ownership;
- Charge on a fee-for-service basis – they receive no commissions or other conflicting inducements from product manufacturers or institutions;
- Have access to filtered research facilities which is critical to the advice process – filtered research ensures ongoing surveillance of the product and markets;
- Be highly qualified – they must hold a Diploma of Financial Planning and have a minimum of 3 years experience as a financial adviser;
- Be ASX and industry fund educated – direct ASX products and industry funds are important segments of the market that need to be considered in a client’s portfolio.
